Patria Direct Jizerská 50 - a race with long tradition and name

Patria Direct Jizerská 50 is the most famous cross country skiing race not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the whole region of Central and Eastern Europe. The coming year promises extraordinary experience – the track will lead exactly on the places where participations of the World Ski Championship will have their training laps. That means it is highly probable that there will be world’s best athletes training as well as fans who will arrive to the Jizera Mountains to see the Championship competitions. Spectators can look forward not only to the main race, but also to Bedřichov´s 30, Team race, Children’s race or the opening with historical skiers and a big firework. Jizerská 50 will gain control of the whole region of Liberec from 9th to 11th January 2009.

Preceding year of the Patria Direct Jizerská 50 race has become a cross country skiing event not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the whole Eastern Europe with many interesting guests and an amazing number of contestants that exceeded five thousand last year. The level has been higher every year. Patria Direct Jizerská 50 will be carried out just a few days before the official launch of the World Ski Championship Liberec 2009 on its training tracks and there will be many fans and teams present already by that time.
 
42nd Patria Direct Jizerská 50 is not only signified by the Sunday’s race which will be a highlight of this sports and social event. Activities that will be held in Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou and Bedřichov will start as of Friday. Besides supporting events visitors will also enjoy feast launch of the race carried out in Bedřichov where historical skiers will amuse visitors with their program.
 
The events that happened in 1970 in Peru will be commemorated through the whole weekend just like they always were in the past. Organizers and visitors honor those who established the event and who tragically died at the foot of Huascaran under a stone avalanche – Peru Expedition 1970.
