Let´s break the record

The Organizing Committee of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Liberec 2009 announces for the Men´s relay competition this Friday an attempt to break the Czech record in number of spectators attending a ski competition. Let´s come and break the record together!

A relaxing day in Vesec

The whole Monday was in the name of rest. No competitions took place apart from official training.

Luckless fellows and champions

Bad luck for the Venezuelan competitor, radiant smile of runner Boit from Keyna and an American dream that has come true. This is also what one could see on the course in Vesec on the Day Five of the Championships.

Todd Lodwick confirms excellent form in Liberec and gains his second gold

Nordic combined competitors continued with a cross-country race in Vesec today. After morning jumps on HS 100 Hill they competed on a 10 km circuit with individual start. Todd Lodwick of the United States showed an unbeatable form. He wasn´t even to start at the Championships in Liberec; already at the Winter Olympic Games in Turin he had decided to retire from his sport career. In the end he changed his mind and he will take home at least two gold medals from Liberec. Schmid of Norway came second, American Demong third. Czech athletes were not successful. The best Pavel Churavy finished in the 31st place. As he himself said, the wind was against him in ski jumping, in the cross-country leg it was bad waxing.

Day Four was in the name of winners

We are slowly approaching the half of the Championships. The Championships have been going well so far, the numbers of spectators have been good as well as the weather. From the point of view of organization, after the initial rush everything has calmed down and so Organizing Committee members can perceive the atmosphere and their work from a different viewpoint. Also, first reports from the International Ski Federation are coming.

Medal Plaza for the third time

On Saturday winners ceremony took place on Dr. Edvard Benes Square or Medal Plaza during which medals and trophies were awarded to winners. This time it was women in pursuit (7.5 km classic + 7.5 km free technique) and men ski jumpers on medium hill.
