Bauer´s health improving, He has left for the Otepää race

Lukas Bauer defending his first place in the World Cup in Cross-country skiing is feeling better. His health has improved enough for him to fly today to another WC race in Otepää, Estonia. On Saturday a race on his favourite 15 km track in classic style will take place in Otepää. Bauer would like to repeat the last season when he was fighting a virosis before the same race in Otepää too but managed to win it then.

New access staircase being built at Jested

As the Championship is approaching fast, preparations of the ski-jump grounds are being finalized. Facilities for athletes and their accompanying teams, referees and the press are ready; new high structures of spectator stands are in place which can hold as many as 12.5 thousand spectators. This week access staircase to the ski-jump grounds is being constructed.

Not only the best athletes will carry away crystal beauty from Liberec. Spectators and visitors too will be able to buy a souvenir of the Championship in various places of the city and contribute towards a good cause. It is a crystal stone with a logo of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship Liberec 2009. Beautiful crystal trophies for the top six athletes in every discipline as well as souvenirs of the World Championship in Liberec come from the hands of masters of glassmaking from the Jablonec Company Preciosa.

We don´t forget disabled spectators

The World Championship in Nordic Skiing in Liberec will be a great event for athletes as well as for the general public. However, making their way to the sports grounds will be also those people who don´t do sports because they cannot. The Organizing Committee has also thought of disabled spectators and relevant background and system of measures have been prepared for them.

The Sale of Tickets for the FIS WC Liberec 2009 Opening Ceremony Begins

On Monday, January 19, the sale of tickets started for the official opening ceremony of FIS Nordic World Ski Championship Liberec 2009.

The Ski Grounds Vesec Open to the Public

From Monday, January 18, cross-country skiing lovers can experience at first hand the level of difficulty of ski trails in the sports grounds in Vesec. The Organizing Committee has decided to open the grounds to the public to such extent so that preparations for the Championship won´t be effected.

Trophies for World Champions made at Preciosa

At the press conference yesterday President of the Organizing committee of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship Kateřina Neumannová together with representatives of the Championship 2009 national partner company Preciosa showed beautiful crystal trophies which will be awarded together with medals to the best world skiers. 

Rajdlova and Magal once again on the winners rostrum of Sunday´s Slavic Cup competitions

Even the Sunday competitions of the Slavic Cup in the Vesec cross-country skiing grounds didn´t bring any surprise. On the highest level of the winners rostrum in 5 km ladies competition came Kamila Rajdlova with a time of 14:41.1; the 10 km men competition won Jiri Magal again with his time of 25:26.2. Today´s competitions had interval start and classic style was used. At the start there again appeared skiers from non-traditional skiing countries such as India, Brazil or Ireland. They continue their training for the Championship In this way.

Men´s part of the Slavic Cup Saturday programme belonged to Dukla Liberec

The first seven places of today´s men 2 x 7.5 km pursuit competition were taken by the representatives of the team from Dukla Liberec. They thus proved their excellent preparations before the coming World Championship. In contrast to the ladies competition taking place in the morning the men competition saw a great fight right to its very end. Finally, the first to reach the finish line with the best time was Jiri Magal.

Kamila Rajdlova is the definitive winner of the ladies part of the Slavic Cup on Saturday

Dukla Liberec Team representative and currently the best Czech skier Kamila Rajdlova masterfully won today´s pursuit ladies and junior ladies competition, which took place in the Vesec sports grounds; with her time of 26:43.5. Ivana Janeckova from SKPJ came second with a loss of 14,5 s; Eva Skalnikova also competing for SKPJ came third with a loss of 43,9 seconds.
